The elemental stones hold the power that housed in the Nameless Blade (1008 o.C.). Valious led the absorbing process and made each stone absorb a specific power of the sword. It is not know wether (some of) the stones already had a magical power of their own before they absorbed the sword's power.
There are eight stones and can easely be seperated by their color.

The stones are spread around Legonia, and some of them seem not wanting to be found or taken away. this is partially caused by Valious' spells he cast in order to safeguard them from evil minds. Not all of their characteristics can be explained this way though. Though the stones' power cannot be used directly as a weapon they can influence their environment in several ways. Some of them attracts certain life forms that would protect them (water element, fire element) while others try to keep all life away (wind element) and some of them show no influence at all, they lie in the shadow never to be seen or right in front of your nose but not noticed.
While the legend of the Nameless Blade is known by many the excistence of the stones is not, The proces of absorbing the power from the blade took place later and this part of the legend is often forgotten.

Elemental stone of Water
This sapphire holds the power of Water, it is not known how exactly it functions when infused with the Nameless Blade. it is assumed the stone is in possesion of the Temp'la now. instead of hiding its power, like some other stones do to prevent them to be found or noticed, this particular stone attracts water and that which lives in it and does this intensively. Supposedly that power drew the Temp'la but also other underwater creatures to itself.
It is believed the water element is located in lakescenter, in an underwater fortress and guarded by the Temp’lar. The Temp'la believe the stone has a magical influence on the lake and is the cause the lake has and keeps its perfect circular shape. This elemental stone is one of the few things the Temp'la don't like to talk about.
Elemental stone of Fire
This ruby holds the power of Fire, it was in possession of the Dwarves in the northern lands, atleast until it was used in the absorbing process (A Gathering).
After the Gathering it is assumed to have been taken by the Dwarves, back to the northern lands. But the stone had a different power, it already had the bond with fire before it was infused with the swords' power but in its new condition not only the Dwarves adored it. they took the stone deep inside their mines and it never got out, evil creatures from deep underground were also drawn to the stone. the Dwarves were attacked and had to leave the stone and when the Ice Age started the mine got abondoned and became forgotten.
Elemental stone of Earth
According to legend the element of Earth went to the Forest elves, it's whereabouts are unknown, supposedly it is hidden somewhere in the Elven Forests. Unlike the Water and Fire element this stone doesn't show its powers, because of this subtlety it would be very hard to find, particulary because the Forest elves have lots of emeralds in their decoration. Only the master of the Nameless Blade or an experienced mage is able to recognize the elemental stone of Earth.
It is not know wether the Forest elves possess it or not and when they do they might not know about it or might not want to talk about it.
Elemental stone of Wind
this stone's location is unknown, there is only one rumor in which there is a magical diamond causing local sandstorms in Ark'tohl desert.
Elemental stone of Light
A sun stone infused with a mysterious power.
Sun stones are a type of rock that will reflect even the smallest ray of light, some tribes use it in caves to repulse the dark, it only works by day though. some people believe this type of rock came from the sun (that's how it got its name)
But this particular sun stone has a deep power within, it is assumed this stone, unlike the regular sun stones, lights up all the time, even at night. Those who search it would best be looking out for a spot where it never gets dark.
