The Battle of Deadwood 1587 o.C. between the Lion Kingdom and the Dragon Empire finished the dragon war and marks the last hostile meeting of both empires.

Background
Also in former times, 1507 o.C. an attack of the black dragon knights in the middle fields failed. But with Merlin's help, king Torkash revolutionised his army in the 1570's. Because bigger armies never succeeded to cross the Nordkamm, the border mountains, and the lion's kingdom's northmarch was guarded well, Merlin proposed to sent the biggest army of this time through the deep forests in the west.
Unfortunately, spies of the lionknights found out of the plan and prepared their defence.
Factions
The biggest northern army in history, consist of over 40 dragon riders, 300 archers, 100 horse cavalry and 550 axemen attacked the Lion’s army of 250 horse cavalry, 350 crossbow men ,500 swordsmen and some warmachines.
With the giant dragons, the northmen seemed to be favourites but the lionknights fought bravely and killed the dragons with their warmachines like ballistas or catapults.
The Battle
Hidden in the deep forest, the fights were never open clashes between bigger groups. More, a guerilla war between small battallions was fought. The northmen weren't good tacticals and decided to let the dragon riders burn the forest away, althought they killed many of their own infantry at the ground with this plan. After one week of fighting there wasn't a winner. Both forces backed out.
Conclusions
- The Lion Kingdom gave their villages in Deadwood up and build new cities at the azure coast. The Dragon Empire concentrated exploring the cold north-east.
- The Deadwood area left as a neutral zone, so it became a loved place for dark mages, druids and other outlaws.
- After these decissions, the Dragon War ended quickly. But an official peace contract between both kingdoms came 1642 o.C.
- The many deads brought the river in Deadwood the name "river of blood", also rumours tell about cursed undead. It's unclear if the corpces of the fallen soldiers are the main source of the black army.
