The giant calamary is a vertebrate consisting of a spiked head and 8 tentacles. They're bigger than usual squids and living in big, cold oceans e.g. Azure Ocean. They're known to attack ships, wales and eat nearly everything. In northlegonian ports they're feared.Mythology
Like most big water animals giant calamary are honoured as holy creations of the god Okeanos. In different myths, Okeanos rewarded the strongest squids who guarded his sanctuaries against evil sea monsters sent by demon gods. Their bloodlines are choosen to be the leaders of all squid creatures and became unnatural big. But over the centuries they became decadent, tought themselves higher than over creatures and began to eat way too much fish. Because this behaviour threatened the balance of the ocean's nature Okeanos was angry and took his blessing over the calamary away. Since then, this species is slowly dying out. On the search for new food sources they're leaving the deep oceans and enter the coastlines and the big river more often. Unfortunately, there another menace appears: the humans. It's told that the giant calamary are jealous about the humans because the land-dwellers seem to be more loved by Okeanos. So human ships are attacked often.
