A draug is a special form of undead and can differently descripted. They're similiar to mummies. Most draugr have grey to black skin and no human face anymore. Often just some kind of mouth is left, while the rest of the body is distorted. A draug is stronger than a normal human body and can only be killed by beheading.
Main factor of beeing a draug is that the died body was already feared to come back alive, so the body was mummificated or otherwisely prisoned in its grave unable to escape though some succeed and are running around. One reason can be that the former person was an evil one or conspirated with demonic forces in lifetime. Another group were victims who got punished to come back after death and live an eternal life prisoned moveless in their grave. Their willless mind and the only drive by angern and hunger for fresh meat (which they cannot eat because of the mostly mummificated mouth) makes them dangerous creatures for adventurers who try to enter dark dungeons or graves.
Origin
The draugr cult is mostly known in Draco Regno where the green mages are suspected to torture their enemies by transforming them into draugr. It's possible that the curse belongs and is based on Merlin's spellcast system but while misusing the way of death it's forbidden and categorized as black magic. Some also use the draug curse to create willless guardians for secret dungeons or castle cavern. Aside Draco Regno the term draug is only known in Morica, Castallani and on the therian peninsula, so it's possible that the cult spreads over the eastern continent. if ther're draugr on the western continent is unknown.
