The Gathering started as a meeting between representatives of different races, it took place in the Bay of Eternity in 1008 o.C. This event was organized by a wizard named Valious, some claim he was the first blue mage though generally Merlin is accepted as the first.
Valious wanted to create a material representation of a covenant between the different races and infuse it with the power to protect that covenant. However the bond between the races was not so close but those present on the meeting where willing to help creating the object in the hope that it would make their bond stronger. There where Elves, Dwarves and Humans at the start but later other factions were involved.
In the Bay of Eternity they forged a sword, the nameless blade was made out of an alloy consisting out of rare materials with magical qualities, among those materials there would have been one coming from another world which some would call a Sphere though there would have been Portals that connected to Legonia (which contests the defenition of a Sphere)
