Background
In the golden age of Middle and Northern Kingdom, the blue mage academies got more and more control over the sorcerors of their citizen. So many poor persons, who wanted to learn how to use magic were banished as heretics and outlaws. While a few witch circles stayed in abandoned swamps, a majority of independent mages and alchemists travelled to the uncolonized south-west and searched a life upside the corrupted civilization and more bound with nature. In the magical area of the hain of druids, they found a homeland which only they control.
Politics
The hain of druids is ruled by the principle of the survival of the fittest but one human institution seems to control the wilderness of the lands. The druid circles, a mysterious union of powerful nature mages claims the forests as their territory. Only initiated people understand the true organisation but we can assume that secret codexes and signs unite the wild men. The dates of their meetings are given by special star constellations so they don't need to sent messager etc. . If ther're other groups living in the small societies than human mages is unknown but a lot of magical creatures and animals are serving them by supernatural bounds.
To outsiders and foreigners, the druids are more than suspicious, to most people their society reacts hostile. Intruders of their forest get killed or enslaved. But some druids has came more near to the settlements in the north, these druids of Outlaw hills offer their abilities in mercenary armies or try to get more influence in the northlegonian villages. Their real intentions are unknown but the recent appearance of Lupians are linked to them, many think. To the west, the druid's plans are more clear. They declared war to the amazon lands by hunting for a powerful artifact, the tear of vendra.
Culture
The druids are living isolated in a wild land and from what the nature is ready to give. Only small settlements or lonely huts can be found in the landscape, more to the south old long forgotten ruins of stone circles are used as meeting points for celebrations, discussions or magical rituals. The druids can be seen as intelligent men but their lifestyle appears primitive. They eat raw meat, old fruits, rotten fish and make artwork with bones, furs and plants. A druid doesn't talk much and never share his knowlegde with someone he doesn't know well. The existence of female druids isn't prooven so maybe the society just consists of former northlegonian citizen or they're holding slaves. Magic is an important part of their life. Not accepted by the blue mage academies, they learned their abilities by themselves and possible with help of elven sources. The druids of Outlaw hills belong to the few human experienced with nature magic, which is hard to learn. Only a tight bound to their environment makes this possible so it's unclear if a druid would be so powerful after leaving the western parts of the continent. The druids don't serve any gods so their religion, if existent, is a mix of nature religion or shamanism. Possibly, they try to become godly by extending their magic powers.
Military
Druids can be powerful mages when using their skills in combat. Rumours mentioned various surprises from mind-controlled animals, attacking living plants and giant elementals to direct battle spells like fireballs and flashes. But the minority of druids wouldn't be able to face a strong enemy like the amazones without a big bunch of servants fighting for them. One of the known creatures under druid control are the Lupians.
