The Northern Alliance is a contract between Northern Kingdom, the Dwarven Kingdom of Dwarven Peak and the Vikings, which was signed 1643 o.C. .
Content
In this military contract, the dwarves supported the Northern Kingdom and the vikings guarded the eastern coasts, while King Udalrich promised to save their home villagers.
On one side, the economic relationships to Dwarven Peak were improved. So, the Northern Kingdom bought armors, weapons and minerals in big amounts for the war. At same time, the dwarves were promised protection if the Black Army would attack their settlements.
Also the viking side had a civil advantage because this contract accepted viking settlements on northmen's territory. King Udalrich promises to defend the viking home villages against enemies from the inner lands and accepts their settlements, while the Vikings explore the oceans.The citizen of King Udalrich’s land are allowed to settle up to the viking coast safely, but not many people wanted to.
As exchange, the viking fleet became responsible for the eastern sea defence. For all partners the main rule was protecting each other in case of attackings.
Background
Conflicts: In former times, the Northmen thought of the Vikings as a wild barbarian group and didn’t want living next to them, so, these factions fought each other many times, but King Udalrich was willing to create a peaceful relation.
Threats from all sides Main reason for the contract were two aggressors, which were feared by all parties. From Deadwood, the undead Black Army planned to invade the mountains from the south-west while orcish pirates faced viking coasts. Both wars came together at same time and noone was able to defend two borders, so the alliance was the most important turn to win the war against the evil black mage.
Historical meaning The Northern Alliance is one of the most important agreements, because it ended the conflict between vikings and northmen and gave the Northern Kingdom a better border protection.
Aside the peace contract with the Middle Kingdom, this was King Udalrichs biggest political success and declared a new time of peace.
