Ystel is an Island in the world of Legonia. It travels in an irregular "orbit", getting nearest to the coast every 3-5 years, each time in a different location. Because of it is contantly traveling, the land is not very good for growing crops. For this reason, the villagers mostly eat fish. On holidays and special occasions, they will hunt for meat but do not do so often to avoid depopulating the island of land animals, whose meat they consider a delicacy. The island is moved by the power of the Wizards of the capital city.

Landscape

On the island, there are a few significant landmarks. The low areas are where there are interchangeably deserts and icelands (depending on it's location). The only city is located nearly in the middle. There are small mountains over near the beach. The only two fertile areas are just behind the mountains. Because of Ystel is contantly traveling, the land is not very good for growing crops. Small vegetables, berry-fruits and grass are growing aside only a few trees.

The caves are one of the few important landmarks. They're connected to each other underground, and there is one underground cave passageway known as the viewing passage. It is a natural wonder made entirely out of thin diamond so sea life can be viewed through the floor. On the rare occasions that the island has visitors, they are often taken to the passage to see the view. There are three cave entrances to different directions.

Wildlife

The Island has little in the way of wildlife, although it's ocean contains many species of sea creatures. There are one or two very dangerous land creatures too, but they are considered legendary and rarely are seen on the island. More common creatures include wolves, rabbits, foxes, and squirrels.

There are a few truly legendary creatures on the island:

The Ice bird

Worshipped as a God, the Ice Bird flies around the island every 4 1/2 years, creating magnificient ice sculptures in it's wake. These last a few days, dissapear as if they had never been there. It then flies into a cave and dissapears, not to return for another 4 1/2 years. The bird is immortal and often brings gifts on it's flights.

The Red Beast

The Red Beast appears even more rarely than the Ice Bird, a fortunate thing for the Island folk. Once it appears, it rampages through the island and then travels to the shores of Legonia and destroys entire cities. Only a group of ultra-powerful wizards can hope to put it back to sleep and this is only temporary.

Nukte

Nukte is a legendary being, appearing as a Pheonix that can transform into a man. He has only appeared once on the Island and showed the Island people about magic. For this, he is worshipped as their savior and they pray for his return, which would eventually come once the Red Beast destroyed the entire Island. It was foretold that Nukte would arise at that time and fight with the Red Beast, and both would die.
