The Tale of the cursed M.S.Everglory
The biggest sea tales in the northern continent deal about the viking expeditions in the late 14th century, who started at the viking sea, crossed the Azure Ocean and also found the southern end of the Ocean of Death. There the world should end in a sea of icerocks and frozen water. Newer carthographs proved the existence of the Endless Iced Sea, but the old viking legends say, that another continent can be found far in the south. While the vikings seem to be the only men, travelled so far, most ships of the northern kingdoms avoid the Ocean of Death today. But not the known dangers of this water and its stories telling at all port taverns, scared the sea travellers. There also exist one not that famous story, the legend of the M.S. Everglory and its cursed crew.
Around the year 1609 o.C. the crew of Captain Bonehead started a travel to Peng Sheng with a big load of gold, where they wanted to buy exotic goods for the famous lionmarkets in their homeland. But it was their first try to find the big island, they sailed alone and with old maps, because Bonehead didn’t want to pay much for equipment (the small boat had only one primitive cannon) and also wanted to stay independent, so he’d never used escorts. In conclusion, they pass the island and drifted away too far to the south. A few weeks the M.S.Everglory lost its orientation, and hungry killed the first men. The crew wasn’t able to find the way back, and their slow, painful death seemed to be a fact. But then, suddenly they discovered a lonely rock in the ocean. The living part of the crew entered the mysterious island and somewhere between the high cliffs they found a cave and inside this cave, an old shrine of an unknown, long forgotten culture. Firstly, it was empty, but then a lovely voice spoke to the hungry men. In fact, it was a shrine of an evil demon god, and it’s unclear if the island is part of the Nulusha Atolls or belongs to the Fog Islands. Nethertheless, the demon introduced himself as a nature ghost of the ocean. He said, that he would know, how bad the situation was for the crew and offered, to heal all men, make them fit again and would send the ship to the direction of Peng Cheng. The only condition for this deal, was the promise to serve the nature of the ocean for the rest of their life, especially to help the water ghost, if he would need help to guard the nature. Feared to die soon, Bonehead and his men agreed to the contract, promised to help the element of water as long as they would be alive and praised the nature ghost, who was a demon in real.
And the wonder began. All people weren’t hungry anymore and gained their vitality back, also the already died men of the crew woke up and were alive again. Their intuition brought the ship to another green island after only one week. There, they had the luck, to find a forgotten insulan temple and discovered a giant treasure of golden coins. After another week without hungry, they arrived the port Shang Shong on Peng Sheng. There they made real good deals and caused of the additional gold treasure, they found, the crew was able to buy more than the double of goods, they originally had planned. Back at Blueheaven, the whole crew got rich by selling their exotic goods for best conditions. A few years they regulary travelled to Peng Cheng and made giant tradings. The best thing was, that all members of the crew stayed at best healthy, noone got ill again and everybody was fit and strong. The years left and the men gave up their sea travels, married the most beautiful women and made children, but then, they started to realize, that they didn’t aged. Everybody kept as young and fit as he was at the day of the meeting with the nature ghost. Their naughbours got suspicious, thought of them as mages or witchers and became jealous. Finally, everybody avoid the old crew, their women died and the children avoid their fathers, too. They became outsiders. After some lonely years, every member of Bonehead’s old crew settled at Port Blueheaven again, because there they could meet each other and together they weren’t alone anymore.
After some years, Captain Bonehead had a mysterious dream of the rock in the ocean. Also his friends had similiar dreams, so they met each other and concluded, that the nature ghost in the Ocean of Death had called them. Fortunately, their old ship wasn’t destroyed after the years, because a rich tradesman, who collected old boats, had buyed it. The crew decided to steal their ship back and succeded. After a long travel across the Azure Ocean (it was their first sea travel since years), they arrived Peng Cheng, where they asked different cartographs about the rock island. But noone was able to prove the existence of this rock or ever heard of it. The crew had a second dream one day on Peng Cheng. The ghost was calling them, so they left the island and sailed with the M.S.Everglory blind to the south. Then, after 2 weeks, they arrived the old rock again. And again they entered the forgotten shrine. Captain Bonehead prayed in front of the empty shrine and asked: “We are here! Come, holy nature ghost, you has called us, we never aged, so, please, give us your order to break this painful curse!” But this time, not the nature ghost answered to the crew, but the real demon, who played the ghost: “I gave you, what you asked for. Now, it’s time to serve your part of the contract. You promised, to serve me, as long as you’ll be alive, and you all won’t ever die! So, you have to serve me for eternity!” Then, something cruel was going on: The old demon transformed the whole crew of Captain Bonehead into undead skeletton pirates and he also cursed the M.S.Everglory to a ghost ship. Since that day, so the legend tells, the cursed M.S.Everglory, a small and old tradeship, has sailed across the Ocean of Death with only one mission: The crew has to kill all foreigners, who try to enter these waters for guarding the nature ghost, who is a demon in real...
