The amazones believe in a godly dualism once created by the big something. Basically, the amazon mythology follows the tales of the most common human religions but they only know 2 gods as children of the big something. The amazon religion is limited to the far west of the western continent.

Vendra & Arkando

After the big something became the first force in the universe, it created Vendra and Arkando as first female and male beeings. Both have similiarities with the Ark'tohlian gods Venari and Arkos but rule over different aspects.

Vendra is seen as the superior god and holds all positive aspects like strength, honour, love, wisdom. When presented as statue, she's mostly a beautiful woman with blond hair and often holds a sword or a jade snake.

Arkando is her younger brother and former boyfriend. He's described as small, weak man who represent negative aspects of life like betrayal, weakness, lazyness etc.. So he's the opposite of the ark'tohlian main god Arkos and less honoured in amazon culture. AT least mostly both gods have shrines in a settlement or fortress while Arkando never has an own temple.

The ancient war

While Arkando lead the male lifeforms and Vendra the female ones, the first evil started to corrupt the souls of the first races. It was quickly clear, that especially males could be seduced by their dark sides. When the demongods created their own forces of male demons to conquer the living's sphere, Vendra and Arkando were sent to lead the forces of good. While the first battles big parts of the former continent got destroyed and many races who followed Arkando's regime died out. In fight, he became heavy injured and only by Vendras help the demongods could be defeated and locked away in other dimensions. Arkando survived and Vendra cared for him.

Betrayal of Arkando

200 years Vendra cared for Arkando's injuries and also for his followers, the males, until he was completely healed. But instead of retaking his devine responsibilities and caring for his people, he let these duties to Vendra and focussed himself on enjoying his new movability. While take more and more less care for his girlfriend and sister he got interest in a mortal girl, depending on source she was an elf or a human. When Vendra found out about the affair, she lost her discipline once and lost a powerful tear, which dropped on earth and became an artifact (Tear of Vendra). Later, she punished Arkando by castrating him. His young affair was killed by a green snake sent by Vendra. The snake can be found often in temples as symbol.

Vendra & Orphelia

The demongodess Orphelia who's seen as evil side of Venari, doesn't exist in Amazon mythology because Vendra has only good aspects as woman. On other side the story about her revenge on Arkando shows a cruel part in her personality. That's the reason why the snake also appear as symbol in Orphelia's cults.

Temple of Vendra

The temples of vendra in the amazon lands are the only known church institutions worshipping the Vendra/Arkando-dualism. They have 3 different duties to support the amazon society:

  • Church: The temple society watches over the clerical rules and keep the dualism by holy masses and celebrations.
  • Schools: The temples also work as schools for many important persons like the princesses but also for male children.
  • Training camps for males: While girls are staying in their families, boys are sold to the temples where they get teached and cared until they're old enough to be sold as husbands. If they don't get a woman, they join work camps as slaves. So the most important duty of the temples are to teach the men their role in society and controllling the population.

Caused by the slavery market, the temples have big economical influence and are integrated in amazon politics. The earthly leader of the temple society is the amazon queen as highpriestress of vendra, but the headmistress is also very powerful because she controlls the teaching of all males. So she is theoretically the second important person in the vendra cult and the amazon lands.
